I was lucky to attend a 2-week music festival in Bolivia where orchestras, choirs and small music groups perform a range of music from medieval to baroque. Our multi-national group traveled several hours each day through savannah and jungle to reach each glittering venue - the churches of the old Mission towns and Santa Cruz. It was a wonderful musical experience but also gave me an impression of Bolivia not usually available to visitors.

My first footsteps into the wonderful continent of Latin America began as a Tour Manager, leading small groups of clients around Peru and Brazil four years ago. It was this amazing experience which developed the Latino travel bug within and I have been lucky enough to explore Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. Personal highlights would have to include snorkelling with sea lions and manta rays in the Galapagos Islands, along with biking my way down through the Andes along a hair-raising road, literally on the edge of a cliff face – I will never forget that adrenalin-fuelled day!

My favourite holidays involve the outdoors – in the past I have trekked mountains in Nepal, Bhutan, Yemen, Ethiopia and Peru, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and trekked through the rainforest in Guyana (sleeping in hammocks). I have travelled through most of Africa, Indian Sub-continent and South East Asia but recently have focussed on Central and South America and the Polar Regions which really appeal to my love of the outdoors and wildlife. Having explored most of South America and quite a bit of Central America, my recent trip to Nicaragua really took me by surprise in that I felt that I had found somewhere on the continent that is really different.
