Tranquil Resort, Kerala

Every bit as tranquil as its name suggests, this colonial-style planter’s bungalow has luxury villas, an inviting pool and is the base for many wonderful excursions.

Surrounded by green hills in the Keralan town of Sultan Bathery, Tranquil Resort enjoys total seclusion within a working coffee and spice plantation. Looked after by experienced hosts Ajay and Nisha, guests are able to recharge amidst these serene surroundings, as well as get a taste of the luxurious lifestyle of yesteryear's planters. You can choose to sleep high up in one of the tree houses, or experience the colonial ambience of the original house with its airy verandas, plantation furniture and open courtyards.

When not lounging by the pool, wandering the grounds or getting pampered in the spa, a variety of activities can be arranged, including nature treks and visits to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. The property has several walking trails that provide ample opportunity to take in the surrounding bird and wildlife, as well as the wonderful scenery. Meanwhile, deliciously authentic south Indian dishes are prepared using ingredients grown in the gardens.
