Mount Kenya Trek
The roof of Africa trek.
Mount Kenya’s magnificent peaks are permanently snow-clad despite its location on the Equator. The trail follows a remote route through scenic forest and moor land to a subsidiary summit - Point Lenana (16,355 feet) - from where there are magnificent views at dawn across the Rift Valley towards Kilimanjaro.
We descend on the Naro Moru trail through the Teleki Valley with its ‘vertical bog’ and dense forests of eerie, moss-laden trees. Before returning to Nairobi and the return journey to London are two days at the delightful Ol Pejeta Bush Camp, which is located at the foot of Mount Kenya on Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservation which offers a whole range of activities from Game Drives to Lion tracking.
