Rovos Rail Safaris
Rovos Rail has recreated the golden age of steam travel with their railway safaris through South Africa’s breathtaking scenery.
Original pre-war coaches have been carefully restored but with an eye for modern comfort, and are often drawn by vintage locomotives the oldest of which was built in 1893.
Rovos Rail operate a regular schedule of three-day train journeys between Cape Town and Pretoria via Matjiesforntein and Kimberley in the footsteps of the Old Karoo Pioneering Trail. They also run longer six-day cross-border trips via Mafeking and Bulawayo to the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe for the genuine railway enthusiast.
