Uzbekistan lies at the heart of Central Asia on the legendary Silk Road.

The fabled cities of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva were considered among the most important in the world during Medieval times and were conquered by both Genghis Khan and Tamerlane the Great. The legacy today is magnificent fortresses and palaces, spectacular mosques with dazzling tile work and soaring minarets, and old bazaars where the scent of spices and oils abound.

The easiest way to visit Uzebekistan is on an escorted tour. We do not have our own tour in 2011 but a number of selected operators do with some benefitting from no single supplement.  Prices start from £1,585 per person.
