The resort is situated on Koh Kood, a remote island off Thailand's east coast. It is one of the country's most pristine, untouched and least developed islands, where the tropical rainforests, breathtaking waterfalls and traditional village life combined with emerald waters and white sandy beaches evoke the unspoiled Thailand of old.

There will be 38 pool villas along the beach front and on the hillside, plus Beach and Hilltop Reserves, Beach and Hilltop Retreats and a prototype zero emissions suite. Each villa will provide spacious and simple, yet sophisticated accommodation with spectacular panoramic views. Beautifully appointed, they will incorporate a separate master bedroom, a walk through dressing area and a bathroom with outdoor vanity, shower and bath. A deck with open plan sitting area and dinning table, leads to a private infinity-edged swimming pool and terraced relaxation areas. Amenities, which vary according to the type of accommodation chosen, include a kitchen, Wi-fi and LAN connection, interactive satellite television, DVD player, hi-fi system with I-Pod docking station, and an electric cart for guest's use.

At Soneva Kiri, dining will be an important ingredient in the whole experience and the settings will be as memorable and exceptional as the cuisine itself, from exclusive treetop dining or intimate moonlit dinners on a private beach, to live cooking classes with a master chef and simple lunches using the freshest of produce from the resort's own organic fruit and vegetable gardens.

An impressive variety of recreational activities will be on offer, including a PADI Dive Centre, catamaran sailing, sea kayaking, windsurfing, water skiing, wake boarding, snorkelling, mountain biking, a fitness trail incorporating zip-line flying fox and the unique Cinema Paradiso. The Kid's Den will feature a wide range of creative activities for children, whilst adults will be able to enjoy classes in gardening and astronomy and a range of excursions include the Khlong Chao Waterfall, traditional Thai villages and fishing tours. Last but not least, the Six Senses Spa village, with its uniquely designed treatment rooms, will offersa refreshing menu of holistic and traditional treatments administered by highly skilled therapists, using products made from natural ingredients.
