You begin on the forested waterways of the Tortuguero National Park on the Caribbean coast, the ideal place for viewing turtles and a variety of mammals, then travel west to the Arenal Volcano National Park in the shadow of the country’s most active volcano. See the huge variety of wildlife in the spectacular waterscape of the Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve, before crossing the central cordillera in search of the resplendent quetzal in the cloud forests of Monteverde. The journey ends with the sparkling blue sea and white sandy beaches of Tamarindo.
