Backwaters of Kerala

Backwaters of Kerala

Rural India at its most enchanting and unspoiled - a stunning tour through the backwaters, landscapes and rural communities of the glorious Kerala region of India.

An enchanting journey through Kerala, best known for its lush landscape, its 'backwaters' and timeless rural communities, where the peace and serenity is a world away from the hustle and bustle normally associated with India.

After a stay in the historic port of Cochin with its eclectic colonial buildings, you drive up into the magnificent scenery of the Cardamom Hills to stay at a peaceful hillside resort, followed by a visit to a rubber and spice plantation where you can feed, bathe and ride on a working elephant.  You travel then by rice barge along the 'backwaters' - an intricate network of lakes, rivers and canals, which have spawned fascinating water-based culture. After a stay at Phillipkutty's, a working backwater farm, this fascinating journey ends with a few day rest at a charming beach resort near Allepey, south of Cochin.
