Binasar Wildlife Sanctuary
With a bird list of more than 200 species and a mammal list including leopard, bear, deer as well as many smaller animals, Binasar Wildlife Sanctuary offers the visitor an off-the-beaten-track wildlife experience.
Nandadevi Estate
One of just 5 properties in the higher reaches of the Sanctuary, Nandadevi Estate offers two cottages for visitors to experience this remote wilderness. The Goralkot Bungalow, built in the mid nineteenth century, is steeped in history and atmosphere and has been restored in a typical colonial style with wide verandahs, bay windows, and high ceilinged rooms with plenty of light and space. The whole structure is made of stone and wood with a corrugated iron roof and offers two en-suite bedrooms, tastefully and uniquely decorated.

The Writer's cottage was originally a barn located in the middle of the apple orchards and farm and was converted into a cottage in the mid 1980's. The cottage is comfortable and spacious and can easily accomodate four adults and two children in two ensuite bedrooms. Built around the concept of light and space, each room, including the bathrooms, have breathtaking views of the farmlands, the forest, and the Himalayas.

It is a region rich in culture and ancient traditions. Almost every month of the year has important festivals and fairs, most of which revolve around revered local deities, of whom Nandadevi is the most important. In addition, Kumaon is a paradise for a range of outdoor activities, primarily high and mid altitude trekking, spotting tigers in Corbett Park, and angling for the golden Mahaseer in the rivers of east Kumaon. Above all it is a perfect destination for total relaxation and appreciation of the nature around you.
Mary Budden Estate
Budden estate sits on five serene acres of land, perched at almost 8,000 feet above sea level. It is one of the five privately owned estates in the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. Lovingly restored for comfortable and elegant living, it still retains its original charm.

Enjoy understated luxury in the wilderness including solar powered lighting, heated running water & modern bathrooms. There are two cottages on the property - the older cottage one and the newly built, cottage two. They are warm and inviting with fires in the rooms which are furnished with an abundance of antiques. It feels like stepping back in time to a colonial era.

As well as simply relaxing in the natural Himalayan environment, you can explore Binasar Wildlife Sanctuary where animal sightings are best from February to April and October to November. March and April are the best months for flowers in bloom, in particular, the ruby red rhodendron.
