The Rock Garden at Chandigarh
The Rock Garden of Chandigarh, created in 1957, was the inspiration of 'alternative' artist and former road inspector, Nek Shand.
Today, it is a fantasyland in a forty acre park dotted with open-air galleries populated by dancers, musicians and animals - all fashioned from recycled materials including bottles, old tiles, sinks, concrete, and electrical waste. Each of the galleries is linked by a series of waterfalls, bridges and tunnels.
A visit to The Rock Garden of Chandigarh can be part of any tailormade itinerary. Our Highlights of Northern India can easily be extended to include Chandigarh, with prices available on request. Read more about our holidays to India.
