Around Annapurna
The classic Annapurnas circuit
This classic trek is the perfect introduction to the natural beauty of the Annapurna region, from its breathtaking scenery to its picturesque villages and monasteries. From Besisahar, the route follows the Marsyangdi River north to Manang, a remote valley lying in the shadow of the Annapurna massif.
The Thorong La Pass (17,700’) then leads to Muktinath, a holy pilgrimage shrine, and the fortress town of Kagbeni. The trail then joins the ancient trading route, following the Kali Gandaki through the world’s deepest river gorge to Tatopani, 22,000ft beneath the summits of Annapurna 1 and Dhaulagiri. Here, there is time to enjoy an invigorating bath in the hot springs and to make the steep climb to the awesome Dhaulagiri Icefall, before returning to Pokhara through the Gurung villages and rhododendron forests of the southern foothills.
