Your journey begins with the astonishing ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, and the spectacular Sigiriya rock fortress, before continuing via the impressive Dambulla rock temple and a spice garden to the lakeside town of Kandy, site of the famous ‘Temple of the Tooth’. During your time in Kandy, there will be an opportunity to visit the famous Peradeniya Botanical Garden.
You then journey by train up to the hill resort of Nuwara Eliya in the heart of ‘tea country’, and explore the hauntingly beautiful Horton Plains before dropping down to the coast and the Yala and Bundala National Parks, home to a wide variety of wildlife. After visiting the historic city of Galle, this memorable journey ends with a few days rest at a hidden retreat.
