Villa Maroc
Located just minutes from the beach yet right in the heart of the town, the informal Villa Maroc, originally two 18th Century riads built round a central courtyard, has a total of 19 rooms and suites, all simply, yet thoughtfully, furnished with great natural style and all highly individual in size and décor.
The first guesthouse to open in Essaouira back in 1990, with names such as Paloma Picasso and Bob Geldof discreetly tucked away in its guestbook, a stay at the Villa Maroc, noted for its relaxed atmosphere, good food and now with its own traditional hammam, is like being a guest in somebody’s home.
Meals - you stay on a half-board basis here - are served in one of the lounge areas, most of which have open fireplaces, the patio or on the roof top terrace depending on the time of year. The terrace has superb views across the medina - a great place for a sunbathe.
