Treks and Safaris in Morocco

Outside the towns the rural Morocco unfolds an ever varying and dramatic landscape of majestic mountain ranges and far reaching deserts. The Old Morocco south of the High Atlas is a land of rare beauty and fascination: consider the dramatic gorges of the Dades and Todra rivers, the ancient kasbahs of the Draa valley, the wild desolation of the Jebel Sahro and the vast silent emptiness of the great Sahara. The itineraries here offer possibilities to visit these outstanding areas.

Mount Toubkal Trek

Trek through isolated villages and across high passes to the summit of Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak. This is not a technical climb, so should be within the grasp of any fit and experienced walker.

Day 1: Fly London to Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 2: At leisure in Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Days 3/7: Drive to Oukaimadene and begin 6-day Toubkal trek. Day 8: End trek at Imi Ourglade and drive to Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 9: Fly to London.

High Atlas Traverse

A spectacular traverse from the lush and picturesque Ait Bougmez Valley across the spine of the High Atlas to the narrow river gorges of the M'Goun Massif.

Day 1: Fly London to Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 2: At leisure in Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 3: Drive to Imelghas in the Ait Bougmez Valley. Overnight Dar Itrane Lodge. Days 4/11: Begin 9-day trek across the High Atlas. Day 12: End trek at Bou Trarar and drive to Marrakech via the Dades Valley and the Tiz-n-Tichka Pass. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 13: Fly to London.

Sahara 4x4 Safari

A journey across the High Atlas and the wild desolation of the northern Sahara. 4WD vehicles are used to negotiate the rugged off-road pistes with nights spent under canvas.

Day 1: Fly London to Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 2: At leisure in Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Days 3/8: Begin 7-day overland safari through the High Atlas and northern Sahara. Overnights under canvas. Day 9: End safari in Marrakech. Overnight Tichka Hotel. Day 10: Fly to London.
