The Datai, Langkawi
The Datai, situated on the north-western tip of the pristine island of Langkawi, provides an idyllic natural retreat within the depths of a 550-million-year-old virgin rainforest.
Set above a secluded cove, the resort is built on several levels, dropping down through the rainforest towards its own beautiful white sand beach, facing the peaceful aquamarine waters of the Andaman Sea.
Scattered throughout the forest, the air conditioned deluxe rooms, villas and suites, all crafted from local materials and with stunning views of the shimmering Andaman Sea or lush jungle, are connected to the resort’s central areas by a series of pathways. All have a sitting area with day beds plus either a balcony or private verandah. Bathrooms have an adjoining dressing room and feature twin vanities, bathtub and shower. The exceptionally spacious villas and suites have large sundecks, their own personal BOSE sound systems and some have private pools.
The larger of the Datai’s two pools is elevated at the height of the surrounding forest canopy and has spectacular views through the tree tops to the sea below. A second pool is located down near the beach. The Datai Health club is available for guests’ use at no extra charge.
Situated high up in the rainforest canopy, the Pavilion Restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine in an enchanting open-air setting. Malaysian and western specialities are served in the Dining Room at breakfast, lunch and dinner, candlelit dining by the sea is available at the Beach Club.
