Autumn
"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." - George Eliot
September, October and November
Autumn is a popular time for travel for those not tied to school holidays. It is a particularly popular time for escorted tours to destinations near and far.
Africa & Arabia: East and Central Africa are good destinations until late October when the rains arrive. In South Africa, the northern areas go out of their best season in October but the southern region come into their best season at that time. North Africa and Oman are also good in the autumn as the weather cools down from the blistering hot summer.
Indian Ocean: Mozambique and Madagascar are both excellent destinations in the autumn. Mauritius is at its most pleasant in the autumn months and the Seychelles is also recommended although rainfall is increasing as autumn progresses. The opposite is true of the Maldives where rainfall is diminishing as autumn progresses so better late autumn.
Central America & Caribbean : The Caribbean, Mexico and Cuba are recommended once the huricane season has passed in November.
South America: Peru and Bolivia are best visited early in the autumn but all other countries we visit in South America are recommended from October onwards.
Indian Subcontinent: Visits to the Indian Subcontinent are recommended from October onwards.
South-East Asia: Thailand is good from November onwards and Myanmar from October. Borneo is best visited in the early autumn before rainfall increases.
Indo-China: The countries of Indo-China (Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos) are best visited late in the autumn.
China & Japan: These are both excellent destinations in the autumn months.
Australasia: In our autumn, Australia and New Zealand are in their spring so weather and temperatures will improve as autumn progresses.
