The Warmth of Jamaica
There is something very special about Jamaica and its people which is profoundly nourishing and ensures you will always want to return.
Although I have visited a number of Caribbean islands, I had not had the opportunity to explore Jamaica - until my recent trip. The Caribbean people are known for their friendly openness and nowhere more so than Jamaica where you are warmly welcomed wherever you go by a people who love their country and take great pride in showing it off.
Well served by a number of international carriers (I flew out British Airways returning on Virgin Atlantic to and from London Gatwick), Jamaica is easily accessible in a little over nine hours. There is a broad range of accommodation although I was lucky to stay at two of the most luxurious properties on the island.

Round Hill is a wonderfully glamorous resort which has been a favourite for the rich and famous since the 1950's. I was afforded the luxury of a two-bedroomed villa with its own pool and Jacuzzi and a delicious breakfast prepared in-house by a personal Maid. The setting is divine and any guest here will want for nothing. A lasting memory for me is the delicious suckling pig dinner (slow roasted all day) served with vegetables fresh from the garden.

My stay at Jamaica Inn started with a warm welcome from the General Manager who makes a point of getting to know all her guests. My two-bedroomed cottage came with a plunge pool and steps from the terrace straight down to the sea - idyllic! Food here was again so wonderfully fresh and tasty straight from the sea or the garden to your plate within hours.
Other memories include a fabulous day at sea with a delicious picnic at a private beach provided by Jamaica Inn and sampling the local cuisine (jerk chicken and all the trimmings) at Miss T's, one of the islands most popular restaurants.
If you are looking for a relaxed beach holiday with a great choice of top luxury resort hotels, Jamaica is for you.
