Spring in Season

March, April and May

Just as the spring heralds a change in weather in our own country, there is a similar seasonal shift in many other countries across the world.  Here are some of the best places to visit in the spring months:

Africa & Arabia: Namibia and northern South Africa will be coming into their best season from March onwards, but the Cape area will be heading for the rainy season by May.  The North African & Arabian countries of Morocco, Libya and Egypt are all fine to visit but Oman will be quite hot by May.

Indian Ocean: Mozambique and Madagascar are fine from April onwards.  Mauritius and Seychelles are good to visit in the spring getting slightly cooler over the three month period and experiencing less rainfall.  The Maldives are hot but in May you head for the rainy season which peaks in June.

Central America & Caribbean: March is a possibility for most Central American countries but less so after that although Cuba and Mexico can be visited later.  The Caribbean is fine until mid-April when temperatures and rainfall begin to increase.

South America: Ecuador and the Galapagos, Peru, Bolivia (from March) and Brazil are all good destinations in the spring.  Venezuela, Guyana, Chile and Argentina can also be considered in early spring.

Indian Subcontinent: India, Sri Lanka and Nepal are all good destinations in early-mid spring and Bhutan is fine all through the spring months.

South-East Asia: Borneo is good to visit throughout the spring but Thailand and Myanmar are best visited in early spring.

Indo-China: Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos are best visited in early spring.

China & Japan: Both these countries are good destinations in the spring months.

Australia & New Zealand: Although these countries can be visited year round, if you are travelling in the spring, it is better to visit them in early spring to get warmer weather.

Antarctica: The last of the Antarctic cruises will depart in early March.
