I was lucky to attend a 2-week music festival in Bolivia where orchestras, choirs and small music groups perform a range of music from medieval to baroque. Our multi-national group traveled several hours each day through savannah and jungle to reach each glittering venue - the churches of the old Mission towns and Santa Cruz. It was a wonderful musical experience but also gave me an impression of Bolivia not usually available to visitors.

As a wildlife lover, one of the most incredible places I have visited is Peninsula Valdes in Argentina. Here I was overwhelmed each day by how close I was able to come to such a huge variety of animals. As I sat on a deserted beach surrounded by elephant seals, I was left speechless as a small pup came up close and smelt my hand. This was an experience I thought could not be topped until the following day when I found myself swimming in the middle of a colony of sea lions. The next day saw me in a boat out at sea next to the most enormous right whales who were playing in the waves and my wildlife adventure ended with me walking along a beach next to a penguin - virtually hand in hand.

Having lived and worked in Mexico for 3 years, I have developed a true passion for Latin American culture, music and food. One of my favourite places is the impressive pre-Columbian city of Teotihuacan near Mexico City. Climbing to the top of the gigantic Pyramid of the Sun left me breathless, not only due to the 250 steps, but also from the stunning views of the Avenue of the Dead, Pyramid of the Moon and surrounding scenery.

Everything about travelling to Antarctica is adventurous and thrilling, from crossing Drake’s Passage to the sighting of the first penguins, elephant seals and whales. However the memories that linger longest with me are the colours and the scenery. I was so surprised by the range of blues, turquoises and greys as the sun bounced off the ice, creating landscapes that were far more stunning & powerful than I could ever have imagined.
