London – Johannesburg
Check in at London Heathrow airport for your overnight flight to Johannesburg. Connect with your flight to Maun, where you’ll be met and taken by light aircraft to your camp.
Hyena Pan, Khwai Concession
Your Botswana adventure begins in the sprawling Khwai Private Reserve – adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve – where you’ll be staying in a luxury tented camp. From the property’s ground level hide you’ll have a great view overlooking a natural pan, where animals like hippo, elephant and buffalo often come to drink. Enjoy more wildlife encounters on game walks, day and night drives, or take it easy in the splash pool with a refreshing drink in hand.
Stay: Two nights in a double tented room at Hyena Pan Camp – full board
Sky Beds, Khwai Concession
Today, following an afternoon game drive, you’ll be driven over to the camp’s Star Bed Platforms for a night under the stars. Sleeping out in the middle of the bush, with nocturnal wildlife sounds in the air and the night sky filled with glistening stars, is a truly thrilling and memorable experience.
Stylish but with a rustic charm, your three-storey open-air bedroom overlooks a waterhole so keep an eye (and ear) out for wild dogs, lions, elephants, eland, kudu and hyena. Nocturnal species such as porcupines and honey badgers may also make an appearance.
Stay: One night on two star bed platforms at the Star Beds – full board
Kadizora Camp, Okavango Delta
Today you’ll move, via light aircraft, to Kadizora camp in a wild and remote corner of the Okavango Delta. Thanks to the region’s unique wetland ecosystem, you expect a bewildering variety of wildlife. Among the riverine forests, wetlands and dry sandveld you could see lions, elephant, hyenas, wild dog, crocodiles, genets, monkeys, mongoose and more than 400 species of birds – to name just a few.
Stay: Three nights in a double room at Kadizora Camp – full board
Pelo Camp, Okavango Delta
Your journey into the water wonderland of the Okavango Delta continues. A light aircraft will take you to the Jao concession where you’ll be staying at Pelo Camp. Your lodge is surrounded by permanent water, so activities here are based around exploring the delta’s crystal clear waterways in a mokoro (dugout canoe) and on foot. As you paddle along through papyrus reeds and water lilies in search of wildlife, you’ll be amazed by the breath-taking wilderness that surrounds you. You’ll be in a great spot to see the elusive sitatunga – an antelope endemic to the region – as well as plenty of birds.
Stay: Two nights in a double tent at Pelo Camp – full board
Today your Okavango Delta exploration comes to an end, and you’ll catch a light aircraft flight back to Maun. A connecting flight will take you to Johannesburg, and a further overnight flight back to London. You’ll arrive early in the morning on the eleventh day.
