EPIC CHALLENGE

At 5,895m high Mount Kilimanjaro dominates the Tanzania and Kenyan skyline. As well as being the highest peak in Africa, Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and a major trekking destination for adventurers everywhere.

Each year people from all over the world travel to Tanzania to tackle the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro. Despite being Africa’s tallest mountain, all it takes to reach the snow-capped peak is a reasonable level of fitness and plenty of determination.

Although nothing compares to the outstanding vistas at the top, the journey up Kilimanjaro is an incredibly scenic experience and introduces you to a variety of landscapes.

The base of the mountain is carpeted in lush, montane rainforest dotted with wildflowers that makes way for a moorland region, before a stunning lunar-like landscape unfolds at 4,000m. Once you get to Uhuru Peak – the highest point – you will be met with snow, glaciers and volcanic craters. As you trek through the lower slopes you may spot wild elephant, leopard, buffaloes and blue monkeys, whilst a variety of unique bird species have also been recorded in the forests.

Depending on the type of experience you are looking for there are several different routes to the summit which range in difficulty and length. The best time to trek up Kilimanjaro is during the ‘dry’ season – from January to March and from June to October.

Whether you want to soak in the scenery on a short trek or go all the way to the top of the mountain, our experts can put together a tailor-made itinerary to Mount Kilimanjaro that is just right.
