Northwest Passage Northwest Passage

Whichever direction you take, expect adventure. As well as devastatingly beautiful fjords, massive icebergs, whales, staggering numbers of seabirds… and a sense of history.

Imagine sailing the fabled Northwest Passage – the legendary and notoriously treacherous trade route linking the northern extremities of two of the world’s mightiest oceans. First discovered by Amundsen between 1903 and 1906, the Northwest has traditionally only been navigable for a few weeks of the year, but a reduction in pack ice now means you can voyage through it.

And what an adventure you can expect. You will cut through Greenland via one of the world’s longest fjords. You’ll witness the passage of hotel-sized tabular icebergs into Disko Bay. You’ll visit the coast of Baffin Island with it stunning ice cliffs. You will experience local Inuit culture and have endless opportunities to discover the region’s  incredible diversity of wildlife.

Voyage through the Northwest Passage and you will be taking one of the world’s all-time great journeys.

You may voyage eastwards or westwards through the Northwest Passage. This example itinerary sails from east to west.

Shore visits are part of the experience but depend on weather conditions. Extra excursions vary with different itineraries and weather, and could typically include:

  • Sea kayaking by prior booking only
