Mungumby Lodge, Tropical Rainforest National Park

Mungumby Lodge is a three star wilderness retreat situated on the northern edge of the majestic Tropical Rainforest National Park, which surrounds the property’s boundaries. The lodge also borders the famous Black Mountain (Kalkajaka), a 260 million year old rock formation. This area is a group of primitive rainforest listed parks and is of high cultural significance to the Kuku Yalanji people. Here, you will find a magnificent collection of botanically diverse landscapes and ecosystems including tropical rainforest, animals, birds and mangroves.

The retreat features ten spacious wooden Bungalows with en-suite bathrooms and private patios. The Bungalows are constructed separately from each other and the main building within the gardens. Please note the Bungalows do not have televisions or telephones and there is no mobile coverage due to location.

The lodge’s Tcharibbeena Restaurant offers daily changing menu using fresh local produce. Vegetarian meals are arranged upon prior request and any special dietary needs need to be advised when booking. They can arrange picnic backpacks for clients heading on a walk for the day.

  • Catherine was warm, friendly, efficient and delivered what was promised. We were not disappointed on any front. Exceeded all expectations.
