London – Johannesburg
Catch an evening flight, arriving at Johannesburg the next morning to meet your onward flight to Maun, arriving soon after midday. From Maun a light aircraft will take you to your camp in the Okavango Delta.
Little Kwara, Okavango Delta
A unique wetland formed by annual floodwaters from the African highlands, the Okavango Delta’s network of waterways, lagoons and flood plains stand in sharp contrast to the dry Kalahari Desert that surrounds it. In this region you’ll find any number of different species, from big cats to wild dogs and hyenas; monkeys to mongooses; warthogs to bush babies. Not to mention hundreds of species of resident and migrant birds.
Your camp stands in the vast Kwara concession and opens onto a huge floodplain. You will explore the floodplain during the day, with morning and afternoon game drives, take mokoro dugout canoe trips along quiet channels, and enjoy off-road night drives in search of interesting nocturnal creatures.
Stay: Three nights in a twin room at Little Kwara – full board
A quick hop in a light aircraft takes you to your camp on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans – the remnants of an ancient super lake that covered Africa many millennia ago. This extraordinary ecosystem supports an array of unique species such as aardvark, gemsbok, brown hyena, wild meekats, springbok and the famous black-maned Kalahari lion. During the rainy season the pans flood and attract a mini migration of zebra and wildebeest following ancient migration routes – an unpredictable but fascinating event.
You’ll get to explore the pans on game drives and walking excursions, led by the camp’s guides as well as by Zu/’hoasi Bushmen who will teach you the creative methods they employ to live in this harsh environment. After a day’s adventure, you can retreat to the comfort of your traditional safari style camp to relax in the thatched library, lounge or dining area.
Stay: Three nights in a double tent at Camp Kalahari – full board
Maun – Johannesburg – London
Today your trip comes to an end, and you will be transferred to the airstrip in time for your light aircraft to Maun. On arrival into Maun you will check in for your connecting flight to Johannesburg, and from there check in for your overnight flight to London Heathrow.
I do not think that we have ever had so much care and attention from a travel company, which just goes to show that (in a good way), you do get what you pay for.- DL, Morocco, 2013
