This itinerary will transport you to three of Kenya’s finest private wildlife reserves for a first-class and blissfully uncrowded game viewing experience.

From Nairobi, you’ll set off for a luxury tented camp in Laikipia’s Ol Pejeta Conservancy which boasts Kenya’s largest population of black rhino – as well as being the only place in the country where you can see chimpanzees. Sharing the conservancy with few other camps, you can expect a truly intimate safari with activities ranging from interpretative bush walks to exciting night game drives.

Your journey then continues to the Mara North and Olare Motorogi conservancies, both of which neighbour the game-rich plains of the Maasai Mara National Reserve. From the comfort of secluded camps, you’ll enjoy encounters with the region’s prolific wildlife, as well as stunning hot air balloon safaris and cultural visits to local Maasai villages.

Day 1 London - Nairobi
London - Nairobi

Fly from London to Nairobi, Kenya’s bustling capital. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your luxury hotel set in the leafy suburb of Karen. Unwind and drink in beautiful views over the Ngong Hills, or venture out to visit the Karen Blixen Museum and David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

Stay: One night at Hemingways Nairobi – bed and breakfast

Day 2-4 Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Laikipia
Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Laikipia

Today you will be transferred to your luxury tented camp in Laikipia’s Ol Pejeta Conservancy. An uncrowded, 90,000-acre wilderness in the foothills of Mount Kenya where you can expect to find the country’s largest population of black rhino, an abundance of plains game and predators that include lion, leopard, spotted hyena and cheetah.

As well as day and night game drives, you will have the opportunity to enjoy interpretative bush walks, lion tracking, mountain biking and canoeing on the small lake in front of camp whose shores are visited by a variety of wildlife. You’ll even be able to ride horseback through Ol Pejeta’s predator-proof Endangered Species Enclosure, purposely designed for the protection of vulnerable species like Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest and the extremely rare northern white rhino. Don’t miss out on a visit to the only chimpanzee sanctuary in the country, Sweetwaters.

Stay: Three nights at Kicheche Laikipia Camp

Day 5-6 Mara North Conservancy
Mara North Conservancy

Your next destination is the world-class Mara North Conservancy, 30,000 acres of private, untrammelled wilderness adjacent to the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve. Here you’ll be staying at the unfenced Kicheche Mara Camp, tucked away in a beautiful, acacia-lined valley in one of the conservancy’s prime wildlife areas.

Game viewing starts right outside your tent, but you’ll also venture further afield on morning and afternoon game drives in customized 4WD safari vehicles. Expert guides will lead you in search of elephant, buffalo, cheetah, lion, leopard and waterbuck, and help you to capture some fabulous photographs along the way. You can also enjoy walks in the company of the camp’s interpretive guides who will teach you how to identity leopard spoor, the nests of rare birds or signs of recent migration activity. Hot air ballooning is another exciting activity on the menu, as well as sleep-outs in the bush and visits to the local Maasai village.

Stay: Two nights at Kicheche Mara Camp – full board

Day 7-8 Olare Motorogi Conservancy
Olare Motorogi Conservancy

On day seven, you’ll reach the Olare Motorogi Conservancy where you’ll be sleeping under canvas in a luxury tented camp. The conservancy itself, on the border of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, is made up of 35,000 acres of rolling grassland, hills and escarpment roamed by a truly diverse population of wildlife. It’s also a fantastic location to witness the awe-inspiring Great Migration of over a million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle.

You’ll have a choice of day and night game drives, bush walks and hot air balloon safaris – an extraordinary experience taking you high above the plains for an unbeatable bird’s-eye-view. As well as being home to Africa’s highest concentration of big cats, you can also look out for spotted hyena, giraffe, gazelle, hippo and countless zebra and wildebeest. Birdwatching is equally rewarding, with over 300 different species to tick off your list.

Stay: Three nights at Kicheche Bush Camp – full board
