Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge

Settled on the banks of the Kinabatangan River, a true wildlife hotspot, a stay here is a chance to come face-to-face with wild orangutans, otters, proboscis monkeys and pygmy elephants. 

Accessible by both car and boat, the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge lies in the village of Sukaua great base for explorations both along the river and nearby nature trails. Guests are accommodated in a collection of semi-detached stilted wooden chalets linked by a series of treetop walkways. The rooms themselves are simple in decor but nevertheless clean and very comfortable with hot showers, ceiling fans and ensuite bathrooms. The main lodge has a lovely river-facing restaurant and sun deck, as well as a library and TV room where you can enjoy documentaries on Sabah’s wildlife.  

The main focus of any tailor-made holiday to Borneo has to be the incredible wildlife, and it’s no different here. From nature walks through the tangled jungle to safaris on the calm waters of the Kinabatangan River, there’s plenty of opportunities to encounter the region’s rare creatures. Cool off between excursions in the pool. The property shows great support to the community by hiring locally, as well as ensuring local produce is used in the restaurant. The lodge also does its bit for the environment by using biodegradable toiletries, electric boats and reverse osmosis water purification systems.
