Rome is one of the most celebrated cities in the world, since its days of being the centre of the powerful Roman Empire, and later as the home of the Roman Catholic Church, it has played a central role in European History. The capital today preserves magnificent Roman buildings such as the Pantheon next to elegant baroque masterpieces such as the churches, basilicas and fountains designed by Bernini and Borromini.

This delightful tour explores in depth, some of the finest examples of the city’s art housed within the magnificent St. Peter’s and the fine Borghese and Pamphilj Galleries. There will be visits to the remarkable churches of Santa Maria della Vittoria and Sant’Andrea delle Fratte with sculptures by Bernini as well as San Luigi dei Francesi and Santa Maria del Popolo with paintings by Caravaggio.

There will also be excursions to discover the charming district of Trastevere and historic hill town of Tivoli, site of the ancient Hadrian’s Villa and the beautiful Italian Renaissance gardens of Villa d’Este.
