ABOUT THE TOUR
We begin in the historic city of Prague, one of the most beautiful in Europe, with its carefully preserved architecture and wealth of treasures. We continue to the beautiful Baroque city of Dresden, painstakingly reconstructed after World War II, famous for its exquisite objets d’art and unique art collections amassed by Augustus the Strong during the 18th century. Our visits will be complimented by the expertise of art historian Douglas Skeggs.
In Prague we stay at the elegant 5-star Hotel Paris and explore, often on foot, a myriad of sights including the Old Town Square, the Library rooms of the Strahov Monastery, the Royal Castle, St. Vitus Cathedral, Vladislav Hall, Our Lady of Loreto and the Jewish Quarter. We also see the superb art collection of the Lobkowicz Palace and the old masters housed in the Sternberg and Schwarzenberg Palaces. We also visit the 16th-century Renaissance Chateau Nelahozeves, which is owned by the Lobkowicz family and houses the other half of their magnificent art collection.

In Dresden, staying at the very central 5-star Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Hotel, we will be within walking distance of the city’s finest sights: the world famous Frauenkirche, the thousands of precious decorative items displayed in the Historic and New Green Vaults, along with the recently opened Royal Apartments, all housed in the imposing Residenzschloss. We will visit the New Masters Gallery in the Albertinum and the Old Masters Gallery in the grandiose late-Baroque Zwinger where we will also see the major Rubens exhibition marking the 450th anniversary of this innovative artist’s birth.
There will also be the option to attend the opera in both cities (subject to performance schedules).
