Mary Budden Estate, Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

A tastefully restored 19th-century heritage home nestled in the Himalayan foothills, Mary Budden Estate brings a touch of luxury to this natural paradise.

Perched at 8,000 feet above sea level, the property is one of only a handful of privately owned estates within the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary. It was originally the home of Mary Budden who, after her father the Reverend John Budden, dedicated her life to charitable work in the areaThe estate today has been lovingly restored and retains much of its original charm, whilst simultaneously integrating modern amenities to ensure a truly comfortable stay in this secluded wilderness.

Guests are accommodated in a collection of charming, softly-lit cottages with three guestrooms each. Homely and romantic with their pinewood ceilings and fireplaces, antique carpets and pretty picture windows, they provide the perfect haven to relax in between activities. These include day trips to nearby temples, bird watching with expert naturalists and walks in Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary – home to a diverse array of flora and fauna including leopards, Indian red fox, wild boar and 200 species of resident and migratory birds.
