Six Senses Paro, Bhutan

Set amidst the forested mountains of Bhutan’s Paro Valley, the exclusive Six Senses Paro puts you in touch with some of the country’s most breathtaking natural scenery.

The property is housed within some 12th-century ruins just above the Paro National Museum, an enviable spot that affords some incredible views across the valley and mountains beyond. Each of the 20 open-plan suites are generously sized with timber furnishings, Himalayan rugs and traditional wood-burning stoves, whilst large picture windows make the most of the landscape. The food is organic and served banquet-style, but you can also enjoy an authentic Bhutanese meal at a local farmhouse.

Days are dedicated to exploring the treasures of the valley, from guided mushroom foraging to sunrise hikes to the revered Tiger’s Nest Monastery. The lodge also serves as a great jumping-off point for various treks, including leisurely valley floor walks and more intense day-long treks into the surrounding mountains. When not outdoors, guests can enjoy a few laps in the indoor pool or quiet contemplation in the meditation area. Alternatively, retreat to the sublime Six Senses Spa.
