Amanwella, Tangalle

Occupying a vast swathe of golden sand and towering coconut palms on Sri Lanka’s sunny south coast, Amanwella is an enticing escape.

At the end of winding jungle road near the small village of Tangalle, Amanwella overlooks one of Sri Lanka’s most peaceful bays. Though unashamedly contemporary in design, it still manages to blend into the surrounding landscape beautifully, allowing guests to unwind while enjoying the rich coastal and tropical surroundings. The 30 impeccably furnished suites are set across the hillside, and combine private plunge pools with sea-facing terraces.

The epitome of a modern beach resort, Amanwella provides the levels of service and attention to detail you would expect. Facilities include a choice of restaurants supplied by the onsite organic gardens, an impressive infinity pool, beach club and invigorating Ayurvedic spa. It’s also conveniently located for those looking to alternate their downtime with snorkelling, temple visits and day trips to Sri Lanka’s finest national parks.

Other itineraries in Sri Lanka

  • We have travelled with TUTC six times, the most recent was to New Zealand last year. The trip was very well organised as usual, with excellent accommodation and a wide variety of experiences. We had booked to go to Australia with them this year but due to Covid this was cancelled, Ultimate handled the situation very professionally and promptly refunded the whole of our deposit without any quibble.
