Vancouver

Vancouver has it all. From a spectacular setting that includes the Coast Mountains standing in majestic silence across the Burrard Inlet, and the photogenic Strait of Georgia – to its cosmopolitan restaurants, great shopping, nightlife and sight-seeing opportunities. Food lovers and choc-aholics must visit Granville Island – a haven of bookshops specialising in cookery books, wine merchants and one of British Columbia’s most outstanding – and oldest – chocolatiers. Plus, of course, the extensive Public Market with its fresh local produce. As a definite high point of your Pacific Adventure, you can fly by seaplane to a dinner date beside a picturesque lake. Or have a picnic lunch overlooking panoramic Howe Sound. Unless, of course you’d prefer to try salmon fishing, indulging in a spa or playing golf.

Stay: Three nights in the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.

The cascading Shannon Falls and the massive granite enigma that is Stawamus Chief Rock will also challenge your skills as a photographer. Once in Whistler you can take the Gondola and an open chair lift to a viewpoint over 7000 feet above the region’s glaciers, extinct volcanoes and snowy peaks.
