If you’re a lover of nature then Canada offers you a unique opportunity to travel through an untouched wilderness and observe grizzly bears in their natural habitat.
Setting out from Port Hardy, you journey to the central coast of British Columbia; to a region known as the Great Bear Rainforest. The home of large numbers of grizzly bears, not to mention their cousins the black bears, as well as wolves, otters, pine martin, minks and – soaring high above – bald eagles on the lookout for salmon.
You’ll stay in the heart of bear country, in a luxurious lodge deep in the beautiful Nekite Valley.
Arrive Vancouver. Stay three nights at Rosewood Hotel Georgia. Over the three day, discover what the city has to offer.
Transfer to Vancouver Island
From the comfort of Vancouver Island’s Great Bear Lodge you will be able to take full advantage of one of the best places in the world to observe grizzly bears in their natural environment. You will embark on guided nature tours through the wildlife-rich Nekite Valley and the Great Bear Rainforest.
You’ll watch the bears grazing in the open on the banks of the estuary, both on foot and from boats. You’ll see large males interacting with females or, at the beginning of Fall, you’ll be able to watch – and photograph – the fishing frenzy as tens of thousands of salmon make their way upriver to spawn and the bears stock up for their winter hibernation. You’ll also be in a great position to see an abundance of other wildlife and a wide diversity of birds.
Stay: Four nights at the eco-aware Great Bear Nature Lodge.
Return to Vancouver for your flight home.
