To gain an idea of the vastness of the Yukon, consider this. Whitehorse is its capital city, and the next city of any size is actually Edmonton, in Alberta. But you’re unlikely to be popping over for a bit of shopping; it’s over 2000 km away. The Yukon is so far north that it doesn’t get dark in summer, and in winter the skies are illuminated by that most wondrous natural phenomenon, the Northern Lights.
