Awasi Santa Catarina sits in Governador Celso Ramos, around an hour’s drive north of Florianópolis. Surrounded by Atlantic Forest and facing the calm waters of the Costa Esmeralda, the lodge looks across a protected bay towards the Três Ilhas archipelago. The setting combines forest, rocky shoreline and small beaches, creating a sense of seclusion while remaining relatively accessible from Brazil’s main cities.
The property is deliberately small, with just 25 villas spread across more than 80,000 square metres of natural landscape. Each villa has a private terrace with sea views and its own heated pool, creating a strong sense of space and privacy within the forested peninsula.
Accommodation combines contemporary architecture with natural materials drawn from the surrounding environment. Interiors are spacious and understated, with king-size beds and large windows opening towards the forest and sea. Some villas also include additional features such as private saunas or small gyms.
As with all Awasi properties, each stay is shaped around the individual guest. Prior to arrival, the lodge gathers information about interests, preferences and pace of travel in order to tailor activities and dining accordingly.
Cuisine follows the Relais & Châteaux approach to regional ingredients and seasonal cooking. Menus highlight produce from the surrounding region and are led by chef Dani Damasceno, whose training includes experience in France, Spain and Italy. Meals can be served in the main restaurant, at the beachfront grill or in more secluded locations around the peninsula, including private dining on a nearby island.
Experiences at the lodge focus on the surrounding landscape. Guests can explore nearby beaches on guided walks, paddle along the coastline by kayak or stand-up paddleboard, or dive in the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve, known for its marine biodiversity. Activities can be adapted to each guest’s interests and pace.
The Wellness Center sits within the forest overlooking the sea and offers treatments inspired by the surrounding environment, along with yoga, thermal baths and relaxation spaces. Trails throughout the peninsula connect villas with the beach, restaurants and spa, reinforcing the lodge’s sense of immersion in nature.
