Set in a stunning location on Malaysia’s east coast, Tanjong Jara Resort is a luxury hideaway with award winning architecture based on traditional 17th Century Malay palaces. Interiors have been individually styled, with rich timbers and local fabrics adding character to the furnishings and upholstery.
The 98 spacious, air-conditioned, en-suite rooms and the Anjung Suite have superb views of the South China Sea or the Resort's tropical gardens and beach. All have colour TV with satellite channels, IDD telephones, coffee/tea making facilities, in-room safe and refrigerator, toiletries, writing table and hairdryer.
Di Atas Sungei is Malay for 'Above The River', and it is easy to spot this restaurant which literally sits above a river flowing into the South China Sea. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery and shaded by a huge Ketapang tree, it is open for breakfast and dinner, offering authentic Malaysian cuisine. The relaxed and scenic Nelayan specialises in seafood in an alfresco setting. For light meals and evening cocktails, the poolside Teratai Terrace is the perfect location. The Resort also offers, upon request, dinner on the beach; a special five-course meal set amidst golden sands and glowing hurricane lanterns.
Spa Village Tanjong Jara houses a well-equipped gym, and embraces unique traditional Malay treatments passed down over generations. Other facilities at the Resort include two swimming pools, tennis and watersports.
Several nature walks and cultural activities start directly from the Resort and golf and scuba diving can be organised nearby. Tenggol Island is part of the fabulous Terengganu Marine Park and is reached in approximately 45 minutes by speedboat. The island is famous for its tropical jungle, sandy white beaches and most of all, its untouched coral gardens and rare species of marine life.
