Mandrare River Camp

Whatever wakes you at Mandrare River Camp, the day that follows will only add to the delight; beginning with a hearty breakfast – funny how sleeping in a safari tent improves the appetite! – on the thatched deck overlooking the mighty Mandrare River.

Then comes the day. At Mandrare, your luxury, tailor-made holiday to Madagascar involves safaris in 4 x 4 vehicles to the evocatively-named Spiny and Gallery Forests. You’ll see ringtail lemurs, Verraux’s sifakas, white-footed sportives, grey mouse and grey-brown mouse lemurs. Not to mention a vast number of exotic birds and dazzling butterflies. And after dinner – served amongst the trees if you wish - you can watch locals performing traditional dancing, or set off on another adventure; to track down the shy, nocturnal creatures of the forest.
