Maia Luxury Resort & Spa, Mahé

Set amid swaying palms overlooking the beautiful and secluded Anse Louis beach on the south-west coast of Mahé, Maia Luxury Resort & Spa is a hideaway that transcends all levels of luxury.

The Maia philosophy is one of restoration, rejuvenation and pure indulgence, and this together with the resort's stylish but restful design, the beauty of the surroundings and attentive but discreet service, make this a unique and exceptional place.

Each of the spacious (250 sq metres) villas - differentiated only by their location - is strategically positioned for maximum privacy and has breathtaking vistas across the private peninsula and Indian Ocean. They are beautifully appointed and include an outdoor gazebo with fullyequipped pantry, voluminous day bed, private infinity pool, a concealed glass garden shower, an enormous outdoor, double sunken bathtub and, to make sure every need is catered for, a 24-hour personal butler.

The cuisine here embraces a wide variety of cultures, colours and flavours and, to meet all requirements and tastes, the kitchens has a policy of flexibility for dining beyond the regular menu and times. Among the dining choices available are the gourmet restaurant, specialising in Tandoori, Creole and Franco-Asian cuisine; a magnificent sunset Pool Bar, and a romantic option for couples on the beach or in a secluded pavilion for two.

The Maia Spa offers a wide-ranging menu of health and beauty treatments utilising state of the art techniques and transforming products. For the more energetic, the clear blue waters around Maia are ideal for canoeing, kayaking and gentle snorkelling, and further afield at Beau Vallon a wider choice of water sports is available. PADI registered dive-centres outside the resort can collect guests and provide all the required equipment. Tailor-made excursions to the outer islands or elsewhere, horse riding and deep-sea fishing can also be arranged. NB: Maia is child and family-friendly, offering a diverse range of special activities and menus for children.

  • I do not think that we have ever had so much care and attention from a travel company, which just goes to show that (in a good way), you do get what you pay for.
