OLD LEURA DAIRY, BLUE MOUNTAINS

UNIQUE, FOUR STAR BOUTIQUE RESORT

Just 100 km west of Sydney lie the Blue Mountains, a staggeringly beautiful landscape even by Australian standards. And complementing the countryside is an unusual, historic hotel.

Are the Blue Mountains actually coloured blue? It’s a good question, to which the answer is definitely maybe. They certainly appear blue, thanks to the natural eucalyptus oil produced by the area’s dense gum trees. The oil hangs in the air giving the mountains a blue effect. Put the area on the itinerary of your luxury, tailor-made holiday to Australia – it’s only 100 kilometres from Sydney – and you’ll discover soaring cliffs and blue-tinged ridges broken by crashing waterfalls, plus ravines cloaked in the famous gum trees.

Not to mention the Old Dairy. As its name suggests, this wonderfully idiosyncratic hotel has been recreated from a dairy and today offers visitors a choice of accommodation from a two-sleeper studio to Straw Bale House, sleeping up to 11 adults.

“HOLIDAY GUIDANCE THAT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE”

The destinations were fabulous, but what really stood out was the care and patience Tania showed as she guided me and my sister through every question and hesitation. Nothing felt rushed or too much trouble. The result? A truly wonderful holiday. Thank you.

“IN SAFE HANDS, EVEN WHEN PLANS CHANGE”
Every detail of our Patagonia tour was expertly arranged – from transfers and flights to the choice of hotels. When our onward flight to the Falklands was delayed by two days, The Ultimate Travel Company stepped in immediately and secured a hotel for us. It was an enormous relief, especially as we don’t speak Spanish and had no idea what to do next. That level of thoughtful, responsive service stayed with us – it turned a potential travel hiccup into a lasting positive memory.

“FAULTLESS AND FUN”
We’ve just returned from a Danube cruise with Douglas Skeggs and Joanna Worsley, with a few days in Vienna beforehand – all brilliantly overseen by Emily. From meet and greet at the airport to every detail on board the Amadeus Cara, the organisation was seamless. We’re already looking forward to our next Escorted Tour with The Ultimate Travel Company.
