Despite having much in common with its neighbour Peru, including a rich Inca heritage and spectacular mountain scenery, comparatively few visitors find their way to this rugged, isolated country high in the Andes. Those who do are rewarded by a staggering display of natural beauty, from the dense Amazonian jungle in the north to the cracked, arid expanse of the Uyuni salt flats in the south. Not to mention countless Spanish colonial treasures and a wealth of indigenous culture – in fact, Bolivia is home to the largest percentage of indigenous people in Latin America.
