Hidden away for centuries behind the soaring, natural fortifications of the Caucasus Mountains – and more lately by an Iron Curtain – Georgia is a place little changed, little visited and full of undiscovered surprises.

This mountainous country is divided east to west by the Likhi Range. The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range forms Georgia’s northern border, whilst the Lesser Caucasus Mountains guard its the southern borders.
So you can expect some spectacular scenery. The Darial Gorge, for example, dives vertically into the Terek River, forming a natural border with Russia – with fortifications dating back to 150 BC still visible. Bring a camera with a panoramic setting!
