The birdwatching here is superb, whilst the aptly named Emerald Coast is perfect for some downtime.
They’re all unforgettable experiences, but Nicaragua has one more sensation to offer you – the feeling of being one of the few. The country isn’t overwhelmed by tourists, and remains charmingly un-commercialised – which means more space for you on one of San Juan del Sur’s delightful beaches.
A week in Nicaragua makes for a great standalone holiday, but you can always combine with neighbouring Costa Rica for an extra dose of adventure, nature and wildlife.
