GRAND HOTEL TAIPEI

RELAXING GETAWAY

Complete with secret passages, centuries-old stone lions and a mystery garden, the Grand Hotel remains of Taiwan’s most illustrious hotels.

Dating back to the 1950s, this grandiose hotel is a sight to behold with its striking vermillion columns, gilded tiles and exquisite rooftop. Long before construction began on Taipei 101, the 14-floor Grand Hotel was Taiwan’s tallest building. In the 60’s it was regarded as one of the finest hotels in the world; its threshold crossed by royalty and world leaders alike. The hotel even installed a secret tunnel so that foreign dignitaries could escape in the event of an attack or natural disaster.

QUIET OASIS

Although it has 500 guestrooms, the Grand Hotel still manages to feel like a quiet oasis in the heart of the city, just 15 minutes from Shilin Night Market. Its four restaurants serve classical Chinese cuisine as well as western and Japanese delicacies, all in elegant dining rooms or grand banquet hall settings. With its plum blossom-shaped caisson ceiling, the impressive lobby is a popular spot for afternoon tea.

“FLAWLESS, AGAIN”
This is the third time I’ve used TUTC. The service, as before, was flawless. Aside from putting in place all the major details of a complex trip to Japan, Dan at TUTC nailed every detail: train tickets were for seats with large luggage space (very important in Japan, as we discovered); a mobile internet wifi was included; together with a pre-charged use-pretty-much-anywhere travel card (again, important – Japan has multiple transport companies). For any kind of complex trip I won’t go anywhere else.

“EXCELLENT HISTORICAL TRIP”
A smooth and personalised booking process as always. The itinerary included clear documentation and a series of fascinating, off-the-beaten-track tours, all delivered with a thoughtful and personal touch.

“MONGOLIA STOLE MY HEART – A JOURNEY I’ll NEVER FORGET”
It was one of the best trips of my life. The itinerary you crafted for us was absolutely perfect; I wouldn’t have changed a thing. What made it even more special was the incredible team who looked after us. Edda was fantastic, and the two drivers we had for the Orkhon Valley and Gobi sections of the trip were possibly the best I’ve ever had.
