You’d be hard pressed to find a better base from which to foray into the wildly beautiful Fiordland National Park. Cabot Lodge is minutes from Lake Manapouri, the iconic Kepler Track, and the trout fishing haven of the Waiau River. There are several private trails that surround the property and invite exploration. Back indoors, you can get lost in a book in the extensive library, treat yourself to a massage or take a dip in the spa pool.

You’ll check into one of just four guestrooms, so genuine peace and quiet is on the cards. Thoughtfully appointed, each has an outdoor sitting area where you can enjoy a drink alongside beautiful views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. You can lunch at the lodge or have a picnic prepared if you’re heading out for the day. Dinners are specifically designed to showcase the property’s farm-to-plate produce.
