With just 11 rooms under its roof, Bahama House feels more like a stylish friend’s beach retreat, complete with palm-shaded terraces, a beautiful living room and stunning blue lap pool.

Originally built in 1800, the blush-coloured hotel enjoys a superb setting on the ‘harbour’ side of Harbour Island, which has quietly become known as the ‘crown jewel’ of the Caribbean. Rooms are elegantly modern yet exude old-world charm from their vintage rattan furniture, canopied beds and plantation-style shutters.

You won’t have to go far to find buzzing restaurants and live music spots where you can spend evenings soaking up the local culture. The island has a laidback vibe, but if you feel like injecting a bit of adventure into your stay, guides are ready to escort you on scuba diving, snorkelling and cliff jumping adventures. Keen anglers are even invited on deep-sea fishing excursions aboard the hotel’s 35-foot Scorpion RIB boat.
