With no electricity, no plastic and water supplied from nearby natural springs, Adrere Amellal certainly earns its “eco-lodge” status. The buildings and all 40 rooms are handcrafted from mud brick and palm wood, blending effortlessly into the rocky desert landscape. Lit by the sun during the day, by night, the whole hotel is illuminated by the soft glow of hundreds of beeswax candles.
With no Wi-Fi to distract you, you are free to go completely off-grid and immerse yourself in the wild beauty of the Sahara. Explore the steep dunes by jeep or sandboard, visit mighty fortresses and dip in one of the hundreds of crystal-clear salt lakes that dot the Siwa Oasis region. The hotel grows most of its ingredients and serves meals by the pool or out in the palm grove.
