In the foothills of the High Atlas just outside Marrakech, this adults-only mountain retreat makes for a charming getaway.
Olinto nestles in a lush olive grove – the olive oil of which is used in the onsite restaurant – near the village of Ouirgane in the Berber heartland of Morocco.
Framed by earthen walls and private gardens, the nine guest pavilions feel like individual sanctuaries. Some have heated pools, but all have furnished rooftops for basking in the Moroccan sunshine. The entire property has a traditional feel with geometric stained glass windows, decorative brickwork and intricately carved doors throughout.
When you feel like exploring, Olinto provides a great jumping-off point for mountain biking, hiking and climbing Mount Toubkal – northern Africa’s highest peak. Between excursions, you can retreat to the hotel’s shaded courtyards, gardens and swimming pools. There’s even a hammam and massage facilities for soothing any tired muscles. Traditional Moroccan dishes are served out in the gardens in the warmer months, while sunset drinks are enjoyed in the rooftop cocktail bar.
