Originally built as a royal hunting lodge by an 19th century Egyptian ruler, Mena House has played host to kings, celebrities and heads of state – a trend that has continued even after being converted into a hotel. Away from the bustle of downtown Cairo, Mena House has an incredible location in the shadow of the Great Pyramid, which means you won’t have such an early start when you go to explore. You’ll find yourself within easy reach of the Sphinx, Cairo University and the Egyptian Museum.

Rooms are housed both in the older, belle époque style Palace Wing and the more contemporary Mena Garden wing. Lavishly appointed with traditionally inspired furnishings, each enjoys views over the pyramids or gardens. If you’re ever in need of deeper relaxation, you can always schedule an appointment at the Saray Spa which pampers visitors with a range of rejuvenating treatments. When it comes to dining, the hotel has five restaurants and two bars where you can sample traditional Arabic cuisine as well as Indian and Italian fare.

“FAULTLESS AND FUN”
We’ve just returned from a Danube cruise with Douglas Skeggs and Joanna Worsley, with a few days in Vienna beforehand – all brilliantly overseen by Emily. From meet and greet at the airport to every detail on board the Amadeus Cara, the organisation was seamless. We’re already looking forward to our next Escorted Tour with The Ultimate Travel Company.

“TAILORED TO PERFECTION”
Our holiday in Thailand was superb – custom-built exactly to our preferences. The Ultimate Travel Company were super attentive, listening carefully to what we wanted and designing an itinerary and hotel selection that really delivered. Even while we were away, they responded quickly to a query. A brilliant experience from start to finish.

“YES TO ULTIMATE – AND YES AGAIN”
This was our second big trip with The Ultimate Travel Company – and we’d happily use them again and again. The customer service is excellent: they really listen to what you want and make it happen. Their on-the-ground support, wherever you’re headed, is just as strong. Everything was seamless. Highly recommend.
