First opened back in 1929, the Steigenberger Cecil Hotel is still celebrated for its exquisite location right on the Corniche in central Alexandria.
The colonial-style Steigenberger Cecil is one of the oldest hotels in the city, counting the likes of Churchill, Agatha Christie and Noel Coward amongst its former guests. The 85 guest rooms and suites are spacious, comfortable and elegantly decorated, combining period-style furnishing with 21st century comforts. Many have French windows with Juliet balconies and views over the sea.
The Le Jardin restaurant, located off the lobby, is also decked out in an antique style, and serves diners a choice of regional and international cuisine. The Monty Bar, named after Field Marshal Montgomery who resided here in World War II, is a popular watering hole.
The hotel’s excellent central location enables guests to easily explore downtown Alexandria and the waterfront promenade known as the Corniche. Some of the city’s most iconic sights, from the National Museum to the Roman Amphitheatre, are just a short walk away.
