PACKED WITH INTEREST
Performing arts and historic sites in Charlottetown. Interesting little coastal towns and harbours. Local festivals and events. Excellent seafood. Tucked away beaches and welcoming people. There’s a lot going on, on this island. ‘P.E.I.’ as the locals call it is packed with interest for anyone who likes to explore the history and culture of their holiday destination.
By the standards of the world’s second largest country, Prince Edward Island is a tiny area. In fact, it is the smallest of Canada’s provinces and – the Islanders will happily argue – one of the most attractive.
Starting at the historic Charlottetown – capital of Prince Edward Island – you’ll find an array of delightful period buildings, including the Green Gables house that featured in the classic tale of Anne of Green Gables. Wander along to Charlottetown’s Confederation Centre for the Arts and you may even be able to catch ‘Anne of Green Gables; the Musical’. Beyond Charlottetown, P.E.I. offers you an extremely scenic coastline, dotted with sandy beaches, delightful little towns and great places to indulge your taste for morning-fresh seafood. Lobster and oysters are a speciality of the island.
